Pizza with Jesus is the new (and improved?) name for Thursday Church. It really captures what we do on Thursdays at 6:00pm in the parish hall:
We gather in a come-as-you-are kind of way (informality is normal here) and pray for the food that is prepared, which is, in fact, usually pizza.
We remember our baptisms and that God knows us, and more importantly, loves us.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every time we gather in Jesus’ name.
We then focus on the Word and how our Bible might speak to us and help us to live out our lives.
This is a very interactive, engaging, visual, visceral, using all your senses, kind of experience. And there is usually a take-away from this experience, so we try to provide a resource, thought, activity, or something tangible to use or try after this hour-long service. We always end with a time of open prayer, closing with the Lord’s Prayer. We are then sent out with a blessing, and with the Peace of Christ, which was Jesus’ desire for all of us who are trying our best to follow him.
All are welcome to give this service a try. One service, two meals … give God an hour and your weekends are free.
