The Bruns hail from Minnesota; Jan from Minneapolis and Jim from Pipestone. While living in that area, they attended a church in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. After leaving Minnesota, the Bruns spent 33 years in Alaska. They recently moved to Olympia to be closer to their son.
Jim retired in 2001 after 35 years with Delta Airlines. He was born the last of 14 children. He has five siblings still living. Jim’s hobby is woodworking, and has also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Jan retired from J.C. Penny. She enjoys knitting and crocheting, but due to a stroke a few years back, her time spent with these activities has decreased.
The Bruns say they feel “very much at home” at St. Mark. They feel Pastors Beth and Eric are wonderful, and everyone has been friendly and welcoming. They love the music provided at St. Mark, describing it as “wonderful and uplifting”.
The Bruns say they are looking forward to meeting and getting to know more people in the congregation. They usually attend second service, so when you see them give Jim and Jan a big St. Mark welcome and strike up a conversation!
