The Congre-gation is invited to a 10th Anniversary celebration, luncheon, and garden blessing for the St. Mark Community Garden June 30th immediately following the 10am Worship service. A delicious lunch prepared by the Community Garden volunteers will be served during a brief program outlining the garden’s history and evolution into one of the largest fresh produce providers to the Thurston County Food Bank.
This event is also a fundraiser for the garden. Over the past ten years 62,491 pounds of fresh, organic produce has been given to the Thurston County Food Bank. The church has paid for the water each year but the garden, until 2018, never used any of the church budgeted money for other operations. Thrivent Choice dollars, individual members, Endowment Committee grants and in-kind donations have made up our operation budget. These sources are diminishing and we need to recharge our coffers. Expenses include plant starts and seeds, seed potatoes, compost, irrigation supplies, cedar for raised beds, and gardening equipment.
Join us right after church for lunch, a garden blessing, and a short program June 30th.
