Jesus, early in God’s ministry, goes back to his hometown and is rejected by some in today’s gospel, Mark 6:1-13.
Jesus had gained the trust of his twelve disciples and some authority but some of his former neighbors still looked at him as the son of Mary, son of a carpenter and uneducated. Someone pulls out an old origin story and starts the talk about Jesus rising above his origins.
Retired Pastor David Nelson shared some origin stories of his own family with us.
Do we box in others with our preconceived ideas of who they should be?
Do we allow others to become all that they can be?

God’s best reminder to us is to remember who we are and where we came from by remembering when we were baptized.
