Jesus said come on, follow me, we’ve got some building to do. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11). With this invitation, Jesus offers both hard work and rest in the building of the Kingdom of Heaven.
As Pastor Eric reminded us, on this 5th Sunday of Pentecost, love is hard work! We asked Jesus to lead us in this effort as we sang out in the Hymn of the Day, “If you lead me I cannot stray. Lord, let me walk each day with thee”.
When we reach out to others in Jesus’s name and in Jesus’s way, we build bridges, we build relationships, we build a path to grace and forgiveness. Hard work? Yes! Rewarding work? Try it and see!
