Remember what is written on the the shampoo bottle? “Lather. Rinse. Repeat.” On this joyous night, Christmas Eve, Pastor Eric reminded us that Jesus comes to us in repeated ways. We repeat the sounding joy of his birth in everything we do. We feel his presence every week in communion. We hear his voice in the quiet night, reassuring us he is with us. We see his love shine throughout the world…and right here in our own community. He gives, repeatedly, his love…his forgiveness…his grace.
Tonight as we repeated the Christmas Creed, we affirmed our belief in the One whose love changes the hearts of people, and with his life taught that it is more important to serve than to be served. So, as the new year approaches, think about how you are going to follow Jesus’ example and “change the hearts of people”. You can bet that the formula looks something like this: LOVE. SERVE. FORGIVE. REPEAT.
