In the Gospel reading (Luke 12:13-21), Jesus told a parable about a man so rich that he had no room to store all his crops so he decided to knock down his barns and build larger ones. He then would feel secure and could eat, drink, and be merry for several years. Jesus told the crowd that God said to him, “You fool, this very night your life is demanded of you!” “So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.”
Pastor Beth questions the congregation – “What does it mean to be rich? How do you get rich? Why get rich?” She then asks us the same questions about becoming rich in God. “What does it mean to become rich towards God? How do we get these riches? Why do this?
