What’s better than an early morning hike in the summer in the beautiful Pacific Northwest? Well, it’s definitely better if you are hiking with friends of all ages from St. Mark!
On Saturday, July 23, sixteen brave souls started out at at 8:30 am at the Comet Falls trail head just 4 miles past Longmire. This was a moderately strenuous hike; we climbing about 1250 feet in a little less than 2 miles. The trail had a little bit of everything, from a forested walk to cascades and waterfalls. We traversed switchbacks, roots and rocks, talus slopes, and even scaled a crib ladder! A nice, misty shower was our reward, once we reached Comet Falls. The hike was 3.8 miles round trip. Inspiration was provided by 4-year-old Cascade W who climbed to the very end and back down again without a complaint! Other hikers were Marilyn A and her three grandsons Austin, Drew and Adam, Barb and Lloyd S, Larry B, Carol P, Dan and Lara W and two daughters Cascade and Sage, Darrin and Vickie L, Susan G, and our leader and organizer Pam S.
The next organized, intergeneration hike will be in August; date and location to be announced in the Sunday bulletin. Come on out and join these heavenly hikers. And expect a fun and exhilarating experience!
