Jesus tells a parable about workers in the vineyard killing the landowner’s servants. Then he sends his own son. The workers also kill him, thinking they will inherit the vineyard.
In hearing this parable, the religious leaders are convicted. They have not been tending God’s vineyard very well. They were not listening. They tried to control who received God’s favor and who did not–who received the inheritance of the kingdom and who did not.
This parable challenges all of us who hear it. How are we doing? Are we tenderly loving all of creation and all of God’s children? How is Christ calling me to live out the love of God in my life?
