Kingdom Talk, Kingdom Work.

The story of the mustard seed from the Gospel of Matthew is just one of the parables Jesus used in his teachings. It illustrates how the smallest seed planted can grow into something much bigger…like a great tree from a seedling, or loaves of bread from yeast. Jesus described the Kingdom of God as “like finding treasures”, “like casting your net into the sea and catching many fish”. Visiting Pastor Linda Smith reminded us of modern day examples to illustrate the Kingdom of God like, “being in a general store where you can put your hands on anything you need exactly when you need it”. To relate more fully to the Gospel, Pastor Linda asks us to do three things this week:

1. Spend some time thinking about how Jesus would talk to us about the Kingdom of God using modern day examples of Love, Hope and Grace. Consider what Jesus might use for parables in this day and age to illustrate something that starts out small and then spreads and grows?

2. Share with Pastors Beth and Eric what the Kingdom of God means to you? Would you use a parable? A personal story? Music? A piece of artwork?

3. Be generous with your grace and love, and hope that a seed you plant will grow in someone’s heart.
