On this Seventh Sunday of Easter, in these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we hear John’s gospel, 17:1-11, and may wonder what John is talking about. Pastor Eric gave us the ‘tool’ to untangle Jesus’ ‘conversation’ with His Father in heaven concerning His ‘church’ when Jesus talks to His Father and says: “And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them in Your name that You have given Me, so that they may be one, as We are one.” Eternal life is now…in this moment. We are God’s church. We carry the words of truth. Our direction is towards the horizon and each other. We should be taking the church out in our daily life.
