The St. Mark Community Garden has never looked better. We are expanding once again this year with a central area that is going to be beautiful as it grows. Brent has done a landscape plan that has dahlias in the center, and colorful vegetables in geometric shaped beds surrounding the dahlia circle. There are paths all around this area so you can walk through the garden and watch everything grow. Mountain View Elementary students have had field trips to the garden over the past several weeks. The Thurston County Food Bank staff have facilitated these and helped with the event. Kindergarteners planted pumpkins, !st. Graders planted 80 broccoli plants, YMCA after-school kids and 2nd graders planted cabbage plants. Before the end of school it is the hope that all the classes at Mountain View Elementary will take a field trip to the garden.
