Our Gospel for this third Sunday of Easter, the 24th chapter of Luke, tells of two men walking along their path to a village near Jerusalem. They met a man who asked about the recent crucifixion and resurrection. As they walked along, telling this man the good news, they did not know it was Jesus walking with them. When they arrived in the village, it was evening and they ask the man to stay with them. He stayed. And he took bread and broke it and gave it to them. It was then that they recognized him as Jesus. Then he was gone, as quickly as he had appeared.
Pastor Eric illustrated, with a joke and a wonderful quote, that today our paths have brought us here, to this place, and when we break bread together maybe that will be when we see Jesus.
We never know when or on which road God will be walking with us. Members of the congregation were invited to share a time when God had walked with them. These stories, of God being present with us on our journey, give us comfort and hope. So, as you read this message, stop and think of a time when you felt the presence of God along your path.
