Join us in the lounge this Sunday (Nov 18) to hear Lauren Winner talk about the Bible. Lauren came to Christianity after first converting to Judaism. She is an Assistant Professor of Christian Spirituality at Duke Divinity School.
When Lauren started attending weekly worship services, she was struck by the way the church treated scripture. She says, “I found it strange that we kept reading the same book over and over again, week after week, year after year, this endless re-reading of this one book.”
Another quote from Lauren: “The bible is ABUNDANT in a weird and unique way. I have come into that RICHER understanding of the Bible not by thinking abstractly about it, but by actually LIVING with it, READING it, PRAYING it, and praying that I might become a person who can HEAR its LIVELINESS”.
