Come and join us on Sunday mornings at 9:45 for a brand new, interactive teaching series called Animate Faith. Each week we will watch an engaging and thought provoking presentation by some of the most innovative Christian thinkers in the country. After viewing their presentation, we will take time to work through the questions they ask: Is God real? Can we be spiritual without being religious? What is salvation? Why read the Bible? What was Jesus up to? What really happened on the cross? What does it mean to be the Church?
Preview the Introduction Video on YouTube; those of us who have are salivating to hear more. Whether you are new to faith, or gray to faith, and especially if you have questions or doubts, this is the class for you!
Our first session, titled “God: Faith is a Quest,” is presented by Brian McLaren. (Preview the First Session Video on YouTube.) In 2001, McLaren grabbed the attention of disenchanted Christians with his book, A New Kind of Christian. In 2005 he was named one of Time magazine’s 25 most influential Evangelicals in America. His influence has been the result of willingness to admit that he isn’t always sure about his faith and that he usually has far more questions than answers. McLaren founded Cedar Ridge Community Church and was its pastor for 20 years. He is also the author of A Generous Orthodoxy, Everything Must Change, and Naked Spirituality.
