The St. Mark Community Garden is lush and overgrowing its beds! Every Wednesday night volunteers have been gleaning ripe vegetables from most of the beds. We have already harvested hundreds of pounds of produce which Pam C. has taken to the Thurston County Food Bank each Thursday morning.
This year we have been helped by Kayla, our SPSCC intern who is in the garden for three hours each Monday and Wednesday during July and August. She has insured that the irrigation system is working, kept the aisles weed free, hilled and weeded potato rows, and has helped volunteers glean the beds each Wednesday evening.
This year we also have a Dahlia garden and a pumpkin patch in addition to the potatoes and onions. Please enjoy the pictures below and come out after church one Sunday soon and browse through the garden.
