The church was abuzz Saturday April 9th as the spring church clean-up AND the planting of the 20 rows of potatoes for The Thurston County Food Bank occurred simultaneously. The International Student association from SPSCC came in mass – there were 19 of them! We also had several of the community members that have signed up for a raised plot attend and help out as well. We also had a young family from Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts plant a row.
Twenty rows of potatoes were planted in about an hour – unbelievable!!! Bob Bridgen put in all the drip irrigation for the new raised beds and the potato patch as well. All we need now is for the RAIN to stop, some SUN to come out, and some WARMTH for the potatoes to start growing!
Keep an eye on the web page for updated pictures as the garden starts to grow! Thanks to all church members who helped plant, and who warmly greeted our new community gardeners.
