This month, Betty R shares one of her many volunteer “jobs” and how you can participate.
“Volunteers are the foundation of every active organization.
I am the recruiter for this Passionate People article in our monthly newsletter. I look for spirit lead volunteers to tell their story in our newsletter each month, sharing why they volunteer in the community of St. Mark or in the many non-profit organizations in our community-at-large. Sometimes we are led to volunteering kicking and screaming all the way, only to find it a wonderful experience. God rejoices in your having listened to that inner voice and taken that big leap of faith.
To let us know about your volunteering passions, write an article of 250-300 words about where you volunteer and why; what benefits you believe are given and received by your volunteering; and, if pertinent, how someone else could participate in a similar way. Then just mail or email your story to the church office.
Getting children involved too.
Parents, has your young person found something that is a spirit lead passion. Maybe singing a solo or playing an instrument as a solo or with a group at St. Mark? Liking to be an acolyte or usher, reading scripture, etc. Do they help younger children in another organization or at school? If so, maybe your child would like to write something in their own words about their gift.
I have enjoyed contacting people and asking for their story; you may be the next one I get to talk with. Thanks for sharing.”
