New Member Wilbur F was born in 1923 and raised in San Jose, CA. He attended San Jose college, but WW11 interrupted his college plans and he went instead to work as a data processing supervisor for the shipyards. After the war, Wilbur began his career with computers in the IBM department at Henry J. Kaiser Permanente, a huge company headquartered in Oakland, CA. Wilbur also worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing.
From 1942, and for the next 56 years, Wilbur was married to Marian, his high school “chum”. Marian passed away in 1999. They had one boy and two girls, one of which is our fellow St. Mark member, Carol P. Wilbur also has three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Wilbur has lived in or “touched down briefly in” 44 different countries. During the 70’s and 80’s, Wilbur and his wife resided in Africa for 9 years. One of Wilbur’s most valued experiences was being baptized in the River Jordan, somewhere near where it is believed Christ was baptized. His tour of this area is very meaningful and memorable to him. He is also proud to say he is a cancer survivor.
Wilbur is a very interesting man. Stop by during coffee time at church and get to know him. He became a member of St. Mark in November, 2015. We are pleased to welcome Wilbur into our St. Mark family.
